Industrial Water Treatment Solutions
INDUSTRIAL WATER TREATMENT SOLUTIONS
Every plant’s water is different. Your flow rates, raw water quality, space limitations, and uptime requirements don’t look like anyone else’s, and your treatment system shouldn’t either.
Sepratech’s approach is simple: we start with your process, then design a treatment train around it using proven technologies we know inside and out. From clarification and filtration to softening, ion exchange, and reverse osmosis housed in robust pressure vessels, we help you move from “problem water” to reliable, predictable performance.
For many industrial and municipal applications, the first challenge is solids and turbidity. That’s where Lamella Clarifiers come in.
We use the LAMELLA® Gravity Settler, a high-rate inclined plate settler that provides a large effective settling area in a compact footprint. With standard 2″ plate spacing at a 55° angle, you can get up to 10 ft² of settling area per 1 ft² of floor space, which is a big deal when space is tight or expansion is limited. Key benefits we leverage in custom designs:
• High solids removal efficiency using counter-current flow and inclined plates
• Side-entry inlet slots to minimize disturbance of settled solids and improve effluent quality
• Thickened sludge collection in the hopper for easier dewatering
• Effluents for potable water applications that can be less than 1 NTU, with components classified under ANSI Standard NSF-61
For larger plants, we can integrate plate packs in concrete basins and pair them with sludge scrapers or vacuum sludge systems. Depending on your project, we may recommend:
• Standalone Lamella units for a new process line
• Plate packs retrofitted into existing tanks to increase throughput
• Rental clarifiers for temporary flow, construction bypass, or testing new treatment strategies
Once we’ve removed bulk solids, we often move to Multi-Media Filtration (MMF) and, where needed, Micro/Ultrafiltration (MF/UF). Sepratech’s filtration systems are designed to be both flexible and robust.
Our Multi-Media Filtration vessels are a major step up from single-media sand filters because they use optimized layers of:
• Anthracite
• Sand
• Garnet
This layered configuration improves filter bed efficiency and allows:
• High-quality filtrate at higher flow rates than conventional sand filters
• Particle removal typically down to around the 10-micron range
• Reliable removal of sediment, turbidity, color, and suspended solids
Systems can be configured as:
• Single vessels for smaller flows (single units rated up to ~577 gpm)
• Double or multiple units for larger flows or duty/standby setups
• Manual, semi-automatic, or fully automatic operation, depending on your staffing and control philosophy
Hardness, scaling, and dissolved ions can quietly drive up your cost of operation. In our custom solutions, Sepratech’s Softener & Ion Exchange (IEX) systems play a central role. We design and supply:
• Cation exchange softeners – for hardness and scale reduction
• Anion systems – for removal of specific anions depending on your water chemistry
• Mixed-bed systems – for deeper polishing and deionized-quality water
• Post‑RO polishers – to push RO permeate to higher purity when required
Key outcomes we focus on:
Softening
• Reduces hardness and scale formation
• Lowers maintenance and chemical usage
• Improves heat transfer and process equipment efficiency
• Extends membrane life in RO systems
• Protects and extends boiler life
Deionization & Post‑RO Polish
• Reduces Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
• Produces high‑purity water where tight specs are required (boilers, rinsing, process)
While we couldn’t pull the full text from the reverse osmosis page, Sepratech’s RO systems are typically used when you need high‑purity, low‑TDS water for:
• Boiler feed
• Process make‑up
• Rinse water
• Reuse applications
In a custom solution, RO usually comes after clarification, filtration, and often softening or IEX. That’s intentional:Reducing solids, turbidity, and hardness ahead of RO dramatically improves membrane life and system uptime. Our RO designs typically consider:
• Feed water quality (TDS, hardness, organics, silica, SDI)
• Required permeate quality and recovery rate
• Integration with pre‑ and post‑treatment (MMF, softeners, IEX, polishing)
• Clean‑in‑place (CIP) and operational strategy to keep membranes performing
We also support RO with:
• Replacement membranes
• Maintenance services
• Rental options for temporary or emergency high‑purity needs
All of these technologies need a durable, properly engineered home. Sepratech’s pressure vessels and softener/filtration packages are built to tie the solution together. We look at:
• Pressure ratings, materials of construction, and corrosion resistance
• Internal distribution systems (nozzles, laterals, underdrains, screens)
• Space and layout constraints, including skid or containerization needs
• Future expansion (room for additional vessels, plate packs, or stages)
We also supply consumables and internals, including:
• Filter media (gravel, sand, garnet, anthracite)
• Iron removal media
• Ion exchange resins
• RO membranes and UF/MF modules
• Vessel internals, nozzles, laterals, and screens
• OEM parts and components
